I was born into a family with a heritage of artists, authors and musicians. I believe these abilities are from the Lord and that he has always had a hand in my work. I started drawing at an early age and received instruction from my father, who was also an artist.
I have continued to draw and paint and study in workshops with regionally well-known artists.Several years ago, after moving to Olympia Washington, I began to work on my art full time. I’ve been studying with Bill McEnroe, a local art professor, entering juried shows, and continuing to develop a body of work.

My style as an artist could be described as expressionistic or at times impressionist and on occasion more realistic. If I’m in my studio, I make a collage of interesting photos for visual inspiration, then on a toned canvas begin to sketch with a small brush and a thinned mixture of oil paint and medium. As I work on a composition I try to leave room for spontaneity and improvisational moments that occur. Layers of color and design are added as the painting develops and takes on a life of its own. Sometimes being completed differently than originally conceived.
I work in several mediums and enjoy each for the different qualities inherent in them. I am a member of the Olympia Art League and paint in plein air with a group from the League in the summer at a number of locations locally.
Olympia is lush with art and artists and has been great for my inspiration and growth as an artist.
